How Do You Find The Best Omega 3 Supplements?
ByYou’ve decided it’s time to start taking fish oil supplements, but how to find the best fish oil supplements?
It’s confusing isn’t it? There’s a whole lot of different fish oil supplements on the market and they differ a lot in price don’t they?
But isn’t fish oil just fish oil? Aren’t they all basically the same so you buy the cheapest? No.
Basically it boils down to 4 things. The amount of DHA in the supplements, the freshness of the oils used, the purity of the oil and it’s effectiveness at combating inflammation. Lets look at these one by one.
1. The quantity of the DHA.
DHA is the primary fat in your brain, and the most important of the Omega 3 fatty acids to your health. Most fish oil supplements are 18/12, meaning that you get 18% DHA and 12% EPA, the second most important Omega 3 fat. So from a 1000 mg capsule you get 180 mg of DHA and 120 mg of EPA.
But finding out how much DHA is in your capsules may not be so easy. Most list it on the label, but some don’t. Avoid these, if they haven’t put it on the label there probably isn’t a lot of DHA there, or they’d put it on the label.
2. Freshness of the oils.
Fish oil can oxidize, or go rancid. When a fish oil capsule “repeats” on you, or you burp up a fishy taste, it’s gone off. This oxidization produces free radicals which aren’t good for your health.
3. Purity of the fishoils used.
Fish come from oceans that are contaminated with nasty toxins that we humans have put in their water. The contaminants come from the land, via rivers that flow into the sea, and other means, like oil rigs. And these chemicals end up in the flesh of the fish.
There’s a range of different standards internationally for the quality, or purity, of fish oil. None are binding. And there’s different methods of decontaminating fish oil.
4. Effectiveness of the supplements.
Some supplements are more effective than others believe it or not. One of the major benefits of Omega 3 fish oils is their ability to reduce inflammation in our bodies. Aspirin is also used for this reason, but Omega 3s work much better.
So there’s 4 things to think about when choosing your Omega 3 supplements. Are you even more confused now? Sorry.
The good news is that there is one supplement that is, in my view, without qualification, the worlds best fish oil supplement. They have 28% DHA, they use oil from fish from the southern ocean, the cleanest ocean in the world. They purify it using the best technology in the world, molecular distillation. They get each batch of oil independently tested to certify quality, purity and freshness and publish the certificates on their website.
And tests show that they are up to 2 1/2 times more effective against inflammation than other supplements.
Now I have to tell you that they aren’t the cheapest fish oil capsules, hopefully I’ve explained enough for you to see why the cheapest aren’t always the best.
So if you’ve been looking to source the best fish oil supplements there’s what you need to think about.
But if you visit my website you’ll find out which Omega 3 supplements meet all 4 of these requirements.
