Here’s The Ideal Source of Foods That Speed Up Your Metabolism
By Dan EitreimWe all know that eating our vegetables is important in any healthy diet, but when we are hunting for foods that speed up your metabolism, what type of vegetables should we be eating?
To kick your metabolism into high gear, most any sort of vegetables (as part of your balanced diet) will work. But if you REALLY want to start losing some weight, we should start to consider calories.
For ease of understanding, let’s think of a calorie as energy.
You eat something – it could be a carrot or it could be a cube of sugar – and it provides calories. Your body has to deal with this energy – if you need it, you burn off the calories. If you don’t need the energy, the body MUST do SOMETHING with it, so it gets stored as fat.
We can’t cut back too much on calories since that would slow our metabolism. We’re looking for foods that speed up your metabolism, so we need to boost our calorie usage rather than cut back on intake. In other words, we need to find foods that speed up your metabolism but still don’t provide enough energy. That’s when we will see our fat beginning to disappear.
Wouldn’t it be nice, if we could find a way to keep our metabolism at full speed but still not getting enough energy? Then, the excess energy would come from fat. (And we would finally get skinny.)
Enter negative calorie foods.
A definition of negative calorie food is that it’s like an edible version of doing a bunch of push-ups. Your metabolism will still be working, at full speed, and you will be getting all the nutrients you need, but you need more energy. Where does your body get it? From burning fat.
Eating foods that speed up your metabolism – and watching the pounds fall away – let’s face it, it doesn’t get any better than that!
By now, you are probably wondering what negative calorie foods are?
Anything you eat has calories, but at the same time, your body has to burn off a certain number of calories in order to digest food.
So, a negative calorie food is one which provides X number of calories, but burns XX number in being digested. In theory, you could eat non-stop all day long and still lose weight!
For example a 100 gram piece of broccoli has about 25 calories. But, it takes 80 calories to digest! You LOSE 55 calories every time you eat a piece of broccoli.
Starting to like broccoli?
There are quite a few vegetables that are negative calorie foods, here are a few…
Zucchini, turnip, spinach, radish, onion, lettuce, green beans, garlic, Garden cress, cucumber, hot chili, chicory, celery, cauliflower, carrot, cabbage, broccoli, beet root, asparagus.
And, there’s quite a few that aren’t listed. Ponder this… it would be physically and scientifically impossible to eat a negative calorie diet and not lose weight. For more foods that speed up your metabolism and tons of articles check out my website.
